DAYTONA BEACH COLLEGIATE EVENTS TASK FORCE 118 Cedar Street | Daytona Beach, Florida 32115 | (386) 257-2593 | collegiateevents@aol.com FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THE DAYTONA BEACH COLLEGIATE EVENTS TASK FORCE HOSTS BLACK COLLEGE REUNION Daytona Beach – Black College Reunion (BCR) an annual event hosted by the Daytona Beach Collegiate Events Task Force will be held April 4 – 6, 2008 at the Oceanfront Bandshell. This year’s event will offer various activities, information booths and vendors in order to give visitors and the community a chance to have fun, get some food and obtain information on health disparities in the African American community. The Task Force will launch its new Black College Reunion campaign entitled “The New BCR – 2008 Spring Fest. On Friday, March 29, 2008, 3:30 p.m. at the Plaza Spa & Resort (Room: Plaza B) 600 N. Atlantic Ave., the Daytona Beach Collegiate Events Task Force will host a press conference. BCR sponsors and partners include: The City of Daytona Beach, Plaza Spa & Resort, Brighthouse Networks, Jon Hall Chevrolet, Pepsi, International Speedway Corp., Florida Department of Health – Office of Minority Health, the Volusia County Health Department, Infinite Impact (Impact Movement) and Atlanta’s NDa’ Game Entertainment. This year’s BCR was designed to stimulate education and health awareness along with providing wholesome and spiritual activities. “The health awareness campaign is part of a broader effort to help combat health disparities in the African American community”, said Karen Gamble, 2008 Collegiate Events Task Force Chairperson. “We are so pleased with the involvement of our partners as we work to improve the image of Black College Reunion.” During the 3-day event, visitors can enjoy music, live entertainment including gospel, battle of the DJs, dance competitions, poetry battle, and car show. Information booths will be on site to provide information on HIV/AIDS, blood pressure, sickle cell, oral health, diabetes, cardiovascular, sexual assault and violence to name a few. There will also be free HIV testing, sickle cell screenings and blood pressure screenings. Other exhibitor booths will include voter registration drives and representatives from various institutions of higher education. Daily schedule: Friday, April 4th . Music .
